SSC CHSL: Central Higher Secondary Level Exam

Combined Higher Secondary Level examination by Staff Selection Commission is a prestigious exam for the students looking for the government job after passing 12th standard. The exam is conducted for the following posts in the following government offices:

SSC CHSL: Central Higher Secondary Level Exam
DEO (Data Entry Operator) : in government offices
UDC (Upper Divison Clerk) : desk job in different govt offices
SA (Sorting Assistant) : Post in Railway Mail Service (RMS)
PA (Postal Assistant) : Posted in post offices
LDC (Lower Division Clerk) : good post to start your career with

SSC conducts CHSL examinations once in a year. There were two examinations for this vacancy, Prelim and mains(descriptive)

Eligibility criteria : Aspirant must be 12th passed from any recognized board. At the time of filling application form students require scanned copy of recent passport size photograph and signature. The mode of filling application form is only online.

SSC CHSL Prelim Exam

  • Pattern : There will be 100 multiple choice Questions
  • Subjects : General Reasoning & Intelligence, General Science and General Knowledge, Quantitative Aptitude and English Language and Comprehension (25 Questions from each subject)
  • Maximum Marks : 200
  • Duration : 1 hour (60mins)
  • Application fee : Rs 100 ( SC/ST and female candidates are exempted from fee)

SSC CHSL Descriptive Paper 

The shortlisted candidate after prelim examination have to go through the descriptive examination.

  • Topics : an essay and a letteer/application
  • Mode of Exam : Pen and Paper type
  • Duration : 1 hour (60mins)
  • Maximum Marks : 100

Students qualified in descriptive examination are called for document verification and Data Entry Skill Test (DEST). Candidates, who clear all the levels of examination have given job on the basis of merit.


SSC Stenographer Exam

Staff selection commission conduts recruitment for the post of Grade C and Grade D stenographer.

  • Education Qualification  : Aspirants must have completed 12th Standard or equivalent degree from a recognized Board or University.
  • Age Limit : The age of applicants should be between 18 to 27 years old.
  • Application fee : Rs 100 ( SC/ST and female candidates are exempted from fee)
  • Pattern : There will be 100 multiple choice Questions
  • Exam Pattern : 200 Questions (50 questions of general reasoning, 50 question from GK and GS and 100 question of English Language and comprehension. )

Qualified students of this exam are called for steno test and computer typing test. On the basis of merit candidates are ornamented with Grade C and grade D Stenographer post.


RRB (Railway Recruitment Board)

Indian Railways, the largest Public Sector unit of India is an ideal place to work for. Railway provides respectable job and status in society. It offers various job opportunities after 12th.

SSC Multi Tasking Staff (SSC-MTS)

Staff Selection Commission recruitment for Multi Tasking Staff (Non-technical) in various central government ministries, departments, offices that are located in different sates and union territories across the country. SSC MTS is a good opportunity to start your career as central government employee.
SSC MTS jobs involve office maintenance, carry letters or files to respective office/section, perform non-clerical work as taking sending faxes, taking photocopies etc.

  • Education Qualification  : You must have passed Matriculation Examination OR equivalent from a recognized Board.
  • Age Limit : The age of applicants should be between 18 to 25 years old.
  • Exam Pattern : total 150 objective type Questions  (25 questions of general reasoning, 25 Question of Quantitative Aptitude, 50 question from GK and GS and 50 question of English Language and comprehension. )

Selected candidates in objective paper have to appear for the descriptive paper.

  • Topics : Short Essay/Letter
  • Mode of Exam : Pen and Paper type
  • Duration :  30mins
  • Maximum Marks : 50

The descriptive is only of qualifying nature. candidate can write descriptive paper in  in English or any Language included in 8th Schedule of the Constitution.


Indian Army 

Indian Army, the most prestigious security agency of India invites recruitment for the various posts for the 12th passed candidates. One who wants to serve for their motherland can join Indian army as government job after 10+2 standard.

  • Technical Entry Scheme ( TES ) and Soldiers: For Male candidates
  • Junior Commissioned Officers : Catering
  • Mahila Constables (General Duty): For female candidates

Eligibility criteria and other details regarding Technical Entry Scheme Examination

  • Education Qualification  : Aspirants must have completed 12th Standard or equivalent degree from a recognized Board or University. (with a minimum aggregate of 70% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics)
  • Age Limit : The age of applicants should be between 16.5 to 19.5 years old.

Candidates will be shortlisted onthe basis of cut off percentage decided by the Recruiting Directorate. Selection Centre allotment and SSB dates info will be intimated via Email/SMS to shortlisted candidates; thereafter shortlisted candidates will have to undergo Services Selection Board (SSB) interview.
