North Korea Threatens To ‘Sink’ Japan, Also Threatens US

A North korean state agency threatened on Thursday to use nuclear weapons to ‘sink’ japan and reduce the United States to ‘ashes and darkness’ for supporting a Un security Council and latest sanctions imposed over its latest nuclear test.
“The four islands of the archipelago should be sunken into the sea by the nuclear bomb of Juche. Japan is no longer needed to exist near us,” the Pyongyang’s Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee said in a statement carried by the North’s official KCNA news agency.

CBSE Orders Psychometric Test of All School Staff

After the murder of a child at Ryan International School in Gurugram, CBSE announced that onus of safety of children on campus lies solely with school authorities.
CBSE sent a circular on ‘safety of children’ to all its affiliated schools. CBSE demanded complete psychometric evaluation of all staff including- teachers, non-teaching employees, bus-drivers, sweepers within two months.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe laid the foundation stone of the 508-km long Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail in Ahmedabad. This is the fourth summit meeting between Modi and Abe.
Modi and Mr. Abe embarked on a 8 km roadshow till Sabarmati Ashram. Japan’s first couple paid tribute to Mahatm aGandhi at the Ashram.
Mr. Abe is in India on a two-day visit to attend 12th India-Japan annual Summit.Mr. Abe will also visit Sidi Saiyyed Mosque with PM Modi. The Sidi Saiyyed Mosque is a symbol of a time when Gujarat dwelled and prospered under Muslim rule.

United India Insurance Appoints M Nagaraja as Nes CMD

M. Nagaraja Sarma has been appointed the chairman-cum-managing director (CMD) of the United India Insurance Co. Ltd.
Sarma is at present the general manager, Oriental Insurance Co. Ltd. He has been appointed the CMD for five years.

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) Ltd appointed Mahendra Pratap Mall as Chairman and Managing Director(CMD).
Presently he is serving in the same organisation as Director (Finance). His tenure as IRCTC CMD will remain till next five years.

Rajdhani Express Coach Derails at New Delhi Station

A coach of Jammu Tawi-New Delhi Rajdhani Express derailed on Thursday morning at New Delhi Railway Station. No one injured in the incident, a Northen Railway spokesperson said.
The incident took place around 6.00 AM, at the time train entering the platform, the spokesperson said.

China says ‘ready’ for high-speed rail projects in India, ‘pleased’ to see Japan rail

India first High Speed Railway (HSR) line between Mumbai-Ahmedabad et to be completed by 2023. Japan is helping in this HSR project, and it will be the highlight of the Japanese PM’s 2-day India visit.
China said it was “pleased” to se infrastructure co-operation among countries in the region. china already carrying out feasibility studies for two HSR projects in India, between Chennai and New Delhi and from New Delhi to Nagpur.

Government Launches Hackathon to Promote App Ideas

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) launched a nationwide Hackathon ‘OpenGovDataHack’ to support and showcase potential ideas/talent from inner India.

As part of the start-up eco-system development program, the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) have collaborated to conduct the Hackathon at Jaipur, Chennai, Noida, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Hyderabad and Surat.

Despite, uncertainty about the implications of Brexit, London retained its crown as the world’s top financial center in a ranking that surveys industry professionals, extending its lead over New York and Hong Kong.
The U.K. capital fell only two points in the latest Global Financial Centres Index published by Z/Yen and the China Development Institute, the smallest decline among the top 10 centers. New York held on to second place. In Asia, Hong Kong leapfrogged Singapore into third place.

State Startup Conference in New Delhi

The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Government of India organized the second State Startup Conference in New Delhi. The Minister of State, C.R. Choudhary inaugurated the conference. The conference was held mainly to deliberate on issues including incubation facilities and making regulations easier for budding entrepreneurs.

The discussions were centered on four main themes related to key components of the startup ecosystem:

  • Governance reforms to be undertaken by states for start-ups.
  • Incubation facilities in India and role of state governments in developing these facilities.
  • Role of state governments in setting up funds for start-ups.
  • Making regulations easier for Start-ups.

Paytm Partners with NPCI

Paytm Payments Bank (PPB) has allinced with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to launch a RuPay-powered digital debit card. With the PPB Digital debit card, customers will be able to transact at all merchants who accept credit and debit cards.
Existing Paytm users need to complete a KYC process to become an account holder with PPB. Following this, they will be issued a free digital RuPay card.
