Andhra pradesh First to Implement Bharat QR Digital Payments
Andhra Pradesh’s Eastern Power Distribution Company Ltd (EPDCL) and the Southern Power Distribution Corporation of AP Ltd. (SPDCL) have become the first state-owned distribution companies in India to accept payments through Bharat QR.
SAMPADA Scheme Renamed as PMKSY
The new central Sector Scheme – Scheme for Agro-Marine processing and Development of Agro-Processing Clusters (SAMPADA) is renamed as “Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samoada Yojna” (PMKSY). For the period of 2016-20 coterminous with the fourteenth Finance commission cycle. The main objectives of PMKSY is to supplement agriculture, modernize processing and decrease Agri-Waste.
Ajay Nanavati is New Syndicate Bank Chairman
The appointments committee of the cabinet has approved Ajay vipin Nanavati’s appointment as non-official director/non-executive chairman of Syndicate Bank for three years. In 2015, the government had introduced the post of chairman and managing directors in public sector banks. Now, the chairman bears the soul responsibility for overall policy directions, the managing director and chief executive officer performs as executive head, accountable for day-to-day functioning of the bank.
Rajiv Bansal Appointed as New Air India CMD
Rajiv Bansal, Additional Secretary inn the petroleum ministry, has been appointed as the interim CMD of Air India. The 1988 batch IAS (Indian Administrative Services) officer, Bansal’s appointment came a day after the appointment of current Air India CMD Ashwani Lohani as the chairman of Railway Board.

The commission is sub-categorizing within Other Backward Classes for better distribution of reservation benefits. At the same time, the government cleared that there will be no review of reservation.

RBI to Issue Rs 200 Notes Soon
The Finance Ministry has given its nod to the Reserve Bank of India to issue Rs 200 notes. The new Rs 200 notes will ease pressure on lower- denomination currency bills. The exercise of printing Rs 200 notes is being undertaken, and the new notes are likely to be in circulation shortly.
Railway Board Chairman Ashok Mittal Quits
Chairman of the Railway Board, Ashok Mittal hand over his resignation to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu. His resignation come after the recent incident of the derailments and a number of a high profile accidents. Today morning Kaifyat Express derailed in Utter Pradesh’s Auriya in which more than 70 people were injured. This was four days after the Utkal Express derailment in which 22 people were dead.
40% Reservation For Girls at Planned Navodaya school
Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has said the government has decided to offer 40% reservation for girls at 100 Planned Navodya type schools and five higher education it plans to setup for minority community students.
The Minister of State for minority affairs said that, “We want to empower the communities with dignity and, therefore, are focusing on the education sector. We will give 40 per cent reservation to girls from the communities in the schools and also in the institutes. This is to ensure they complete their education,”
