Government Slaps $246 million Penalty on Reliance
The Government has enforced penalty of worth $264 million on Reliance India limited (RIL) and its partners for producing less natural gas than targeted from eastern offshore KG-D6 fields in year 2015-16. According to an official of Oil ministry the total penalty now, which is in the form of disallowing recovery of cost missing the target during 6 years starting April 2010, sum at $3.02 billion.

Rahul Gandhi Inaugurates ‘Indira Canteen’ Scheme in Bengaluru
Karnataka government launched a state government initiative, ‘Indira Canteen’ Scheme dedicated to Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to provide food at low cost to cater to the urban poor. Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi Inaugurated the Scheme at Karnataka Palya (Jayanagar) in Bengaluru. Government has planned to open 101 such canteens across various locations in Bengaluru.

Scientists Discover Earth’s Largest Volcanic Region In Antarctica
Scientists have uncovered the largest volcanic region on Earth, consisting of around 100 volcanoes- two kilometers below the surface of the vast Antarctic ice surface. Researchers at Edinburgh University revealed a staggering 91 volcanoes, adding to the 47 found previously. The newly discovered volcanoes range in height from 100 to 3,850 meters.
