Government Bans Export of Gold Articles Above 22-Carat Purity
The Union Government gas banned exports of gold jewellery, medallions and other over 22-carat purity. According to the DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade), some provisions of the foreign trade policy (2015-20) are amended to allow export of gold jewellery and articles containing gold of 8 carats and above up to a maximum limit of 22 carats only from domestic tariff area and export-oriented units, electronics hardware technology parks, software technology parks and bio technology parks.

World Bank Pledges $24 million to Improve India’s Forest Ecosystem
The World Bank & the Finance Ministry og India has signed a grant agreement of $24.64 million from the global environment facility(GEF) of the World Bank for improvement project of Ecosystem services. The Five year project’s main objective is to strengthen the institutional capacity of the departments of forestry and community organizations to improve forest ecosystem services and improve the livelihoods of forest dependent communities in central Indian highlands.
HRD Ministry to Conduct World’s Largest Sample Survey for Students
The Human Resource development (HRD) Ministry has announced ‘National Assessment Survey (NAS) for the students of class 3, 5 and 8 on November 13. Approximately 30 lakhs students will be assessed in the year 2017-18 making it the world’s largest sample survey of student learning achievement.
NHAI Launches Two Mobile App For Electronic Toll CollectionNational Highway Authority of India launched mobile apps ‘MyFASTag’ and ‘FASTag Partner’ in New delhi to provide the facility of Electronic Toll collection. Both the apps can be downloaded from the App store for Android and iOS Store. Basically, MyFAStag is a consumer app and FASTag Partner is a merchant app.
HDFC Bank Reduces Interest Rates on Saving Accounts
HDFC Bank has revised its saving bank interest rates. New interest rates will be effective from 19 August, 2017. Post revision, customers maintaining saving bank account balance of below Rs 50 lakhs will get 3.5% interest per annum from earlier 4%. Customers maintaining account balance above Rs 50 lakh will continue to earn 4% interest per annum.

Managing director and Chief Executive Officer of the India’s second largest software service exporter company, Vishal Sikka has resigned with immediate effect. Environment Minister Launches “Harit Diwali, Swasth Diwali” Campaign
Union Minister for Environment, forest and Climate Change Dr. Harsh Vardhan, launched “Harit Diwali Swasth Diwali” campaign in Delhi. In an event, addressing a gathering of about 800 children from schools of Delhi, Dr. Harshvardhan urges children from schools to celebrate Pollution free Diwali this year. Minister impressed upon the children to not to buy crackers on this Diwali, instead buy a gift or food items for the poor and underprivileged children living in their locality.
Government Slaps $246 million Penalty on Reliance
The Government has enforced penalty of worth $264 million on Reliance India limited (RIL) and its partners for producing less natural gas than targeted from eastern offshore KG-D6 fields in year 2015-16. According to an official of Oil ministry the total penalty now, which is in the form of disallowing recovery of cost missing the target during 6 years starting April 2010, sum at $3.02 billion.

Reserve Bank of India has accorded their approval to the request of Karur Vysya Bank Limited for the appointment of Shri P R Seshadri as Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Bank for a period of three years from the date of joining. He as replaced K Venkataraman for this post.

The 16th edition of International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championships 2017 were held in the London stadium in Startford, London.
