Coast Guard Training Ship ‘Varuna’ Decommissioned
The Indian Coast guard training ship ‘Varuna’, part of the first training squadron of the Indian Navy was decommissioned with full armed forces honors at a ceremony. The ship served to nation for span about 30 years.
Varuna had numerous achievements to its account, including a record no. of apprehension of smugglers with gold worth crores of rupees during the late 1980s.
Odisha Chief Minister Launches Rooftop Solar Program
The Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik has launched the grid-connected rooftop solar project through net-metering system. He also launched the web portal of the rooftop solar programme– www.rtsodisha.gov.in.
Under this program pepole can install solar plants on their rooftops and consume the generated solar power during the day time. The investment on a rooftop solar system is about Rs 70,000 per kw. The state government will provide 30 percent subsidy to the consumers.
North East’s First 100% Computer Literate Village : Nungthaang Tampak
Nungthaang Tampak villege of Manipur has emerged as the first 100% computer literate, not in Manipur but in the entire North East region. The computer course, which is affiliated to All India Society for Electronics and Computer Technology (AISECT), was organized by Mangal Rural as a part of the Digital India program.
The first 100 percent computer literate village of India was Kerala’s Chamravattom village. Now, Nungthang Tampak has become India’s second 100 percent computer literate village.
England to Host 2018 ITTF Team World Cup
2018 Table Tennis Team World Cup will be hosted by London, England. The tournament will take place at the Copper Box Arena in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London from 22-25 February 2018. A total of 12 men’s and 12 women’s teams from all across the world will compete at the event.
Jammu & Kashmir Government to Set Up First Eco-Park
The Jammu and kashmir government has decided to build an Eco-Park, First of its kind project in the region. Over 34 acres of land reclaimed from encroachers in the state’s Rajouri district. It will have a botanical garden, a cactus garden, a cafeteria and other amenities.
GurmeetRam Rahim Case Verdict
Dera Sacha Sauda Chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was found guilty of rape by a special CBI court in Panchkula, Hayana on Friday.He was immediately taken into judicial custody and special bench will announce sentence on Monday.
After the verdict of Court, Followers of Dera Chief erupted viloence across Punjab & Haryana. In the rampage 30 deaths are still confirmed and over 350 injured. The mon also vandalize two OB van’s of media, Railwy stations, petrol pumps and buses.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court ruled that Dera chief is responible for this rampage and the loss will be recoverd from the Dera. Court has given order to cease the property of Gurmeet Ram Rahim.
Commerce Ministry Sets Up Task Force on Artificial Intelligence
Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala sitharaman has formulated a task force on Artificial Intelligence (AI) to ensure “India’s Economic Transformation”. he task force will be chaired by V. Kamakoti, a professor of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. The task force on AI for ‘India’s Economic Transformation’ will propose firm and implementable recommendations for government, industry and research institutions.
Along with regular members, the task force will have official participation from NITI Aayog, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Department of Science & Technology, UIDAI and DRDO.

The Karnataka government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) wit Microsoft India t develop a unique ‘Farm pricre forecasting model’ by introducing e-governance and IT tools inn a bid to help farmers, administrators and other stakeholders to understand the market behavior in advance.

Former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan has written a book titled ‘I Do What I Do: On Reform, Rhetoric & Resolve’. Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) in copration with CSC India has launched door step enrolment facility in Delhi for the elderly, patients and others who are unable to travel the Aadhar centers. The van was flagged off by Law and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. The van will provide Aadhaar enrolment service at door step in Delhi area.

Real Madrid star Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has won the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year award for the 2016/17 season. He received the award at the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League group stage draw in Monaco. Ronaldo will pick the trophy for the second consecutive season and record third time in total.
