Kerala CM Launches Host City Logo For FIFA U-17 World CupKerala Chief Minister Shri Pinarayi launched the host city logo for Kochi, one of the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017. The logo represents and reflects the city’s identity and will be a worthy tool in connecting the local community in a global sports event.
The event will be going to start in less than 40 days, the tournament will be hosted in the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium of the city. In October 2016, Kochi became the first Indian city to be officially declared as one of the venues for hosting the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
India win U-15 SAFF Football Championships
The Indian U-15 football team came from behind to defeat Nepal after trailing by one goal at the time of interval. Indian team won the championship over Nepal by 2-1 in the finals at Kathmandu, Nepal. Lalrokima and Vikram scored the goals to lead India to the brilliant win.
Vice President Launches ‘National Sports Talent Search Portal’
The vice president of India Venkaiah Naidu launched the National Sports Talent Search Portal, a government initiative to unearth sporting talent from every nook and corner of the country.
The portal provides a platform on which a child or his parents, teachers or coaches can upload his bio data or video. Then, the sports ministry will select talented players and provide training to them at Sports Authority India centres. the portal is also available as an App enabling it to be downloaded on smart phones.
Nitasha Biswas Becomes First Miss TransQueen IndiaKolkata’s Nitasha Biswas, crowned as the first Miss Tans Queen India at the event held in Gurugram, Haryana. Nitasha is pursuing her Masters in Business Management in Kolkata, West Bengal.Manipur’s Loiloi was crowned the first runner-up. Biswas will now go to Thailand for Miss International Queen, while Loiloi will compete at Miss Transsexual Australia.
Olympian Footballer Ahmed Khan Passes Away
East Bengal legend Ahmed Khan, India’s two-time Olympic footballer passed away at the age of 90. Ahmed khan was part of the Indian team in 1948 an 1952 Olympics. He was one of the most famous of the legendary quintet of forwards called the “Five Pandavas” who played for East Bengal in an India that had just become an independent nation.
Indo-German Pact to Improve Grid Integration of Renewable Energy
India and Germany inked an agreement on technical cooperation under the Indo-German Energy Programme – Green Energy Corridors (IGEN-GEC). The main objective of this program component is to improve the sector framework and conditions for grid integration of renewable energy.
Another ‘Godman’, Rampal will Face Court Verdict Today
Another ‘Godman’ from Haryana, Rampal who has arrested by police in 2014 in an 11 year old murder case will face Court verdict today in Hisar, Haryana today.
His followers created a rampage during his arrest resulting two week standoff between his followers and the police three year ago. Five women and a baby died during that standoff and more than 200 people were injured.
National Sports Day: 29 August
On the birth anniversary of legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, National Sports Day is celebrated. Various programs are being conducted across the country to celebrate the day.

PM Modi to Visit Udaipur Today to Inaugurate Projects
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a visit to Udaipur, Rajsthan today to inaugurate 11 completed National Highway projects. He will also lay down the foundation stones of several projects.
“I will address a public meeting in Udaipur. I will also visit the Pratap Gaurav Kendra and pay my respects to the great Maharana Pratap,” tweeted PM Modi.

Dera Chief Ram Rahim Sentenced 10 Years of Imprisonment in Rape Case
Special CBI court released their verdict on the high intense rape case on Dera Saccha Sauda Chief Baba Ram Rahim to 10 years of imprisonment. Special CBI Court headed by judge Jaddeep singh declared Baba guilty in last hearing, three days ago in Panchkula.
There were three-tier security ring was setup around the district jail yo avoid any mishap. The Dera chief was sent for a medical examination and then will be given a prison uniform and will be allotted a jail cell.
Rural Games to Take Place in Delhi From Today
Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mr. Vijay Goel announced that the first edition of Rural Games or Grameen Khel Mahotsav will kick-start from Delhi and will take place between 29th August to 3rd September, 2017. The Rural Games will aim at popularizing the indigenous games like wrestling, athletics etc. and will also have fun games like Matka Race, Tug of War for senior citizens to add the fun element in the games.
Tuvalu Island is World’s Least Visited Country: UN Report
According to a report by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the island of Tuvalu was the least visited country in 2016.
According to the report, 2,000 people visited Tuvalu in 2016, while 1,000 people visited the country in 2014. Located in the South Pacific Ocean, Tuvalu is 4.6 meters above sea level and has a population of 11,000 people.
Doklam Standoff : India China Agree to Disengage
Days before the expected visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to China for a BRICS summit, India has begun de-escalation after being in a standoff for over two months. The disengagement is taken place after many bi-lateral talks, the withdrawal is mutually agreed.
A report from Beijing said the Chinese troops will “continue to patrol in Doklam in the Sikkim sector” in a sign of “sovereignty over the region”.

As a first pilot project, four offices of MEA – Regional Passport Office (RPO), Protector of Emigrants (PoE) office, Branch Secretariat and Regional Office of ICCR – have been assimilated and brought under one roof at the state-of-art office.

IRDAI Launches Central Database of Insurance Sales Persons
The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has launched a Central Database of all Insurance Sales Persons in the country.
Named as `Envoy’, the database will ensure that all licensed insurance sales persons working for insurers and intermediaries including entities such as insurance agents, broker qualified persons, specified persons of corporate agents do not work with multiple insurers and intermediaries in the same business category.
