Rafel Nadal defeated Juan Maetin del Potro by 4-6, 6-0, 6-3, 6-2 in US open semifinals on Friday, moved one step closer to 16th Grand Slam crown.
In US open finals on Sunday, World no. 1 Nadal will face 32nd ranked Kevin Anderson. Anderson is the first South African in the championship match in 52 years.

Government Extends FAME India Scheme by 6-months

The Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises has extended the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME) India Scheme by 6-months to promote electric and hybrid vehicles.
The scheme was effective from April 2015 to March 2017 in Phase-1, but received six month extension till September 2017. Now it has been again extended for six months up to March end, 2018.
The FAME India scheme was launched in 2015 under National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP) with an aim to promote eco-friendly vehicles in the country.

Indian Army to Induct Women in Military Policewomen in Army Military forces

The Indian Army has taken a major step towards breaking gender barriers in force by finalising plan to induct women in military. under this plan a total of 800 women will be inducted with annually intake of 52.
The presence of women in military forces will help in investigating allegations of gender specific crime.

Viveck Goenka Elected New PTI Chairman

Viveck Goenka, chairman and Managing director of the Express Group unanimously elected as the Chairman of Press Trust of India (PTI), the county’s largest news agency. And N. Ravi, former Editor-in-Chief of the hindu was elected as Vice Chairman of PTI.
Mr. Goenka, an engineer by qualification and a publisher by profession, is also a director of the Indian Newspaper Society (INS) besides being a member of the Advertising Association, India Chapter.
Mr. Ravi, an award-winning journalist with an illustrious career in India and the United States, is a Director at Kasturi & Sons Ltd, which publishes The Hindu.

Amazon opens Largest Fulfillment Center in Hyderabad

Amazon opened its largest fulfilment centre in India near the Rajiv gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad, Hyderabad. The 400,000 sq feet centre with close of 2.1 million cubic feet of storage space is the 5th such centre in Telangana.

Unites States banking regulators shutter Pakistan’s habib Bank nearly after 40 years, for continously failing to notice concerns over possible terrorist financing and money laundering.
Habib is the Pakistan’s largest private bank, suspected for the transactions that potentially could have promoted terrorism, money laundering or other illicit ends, according to a New York banking official.

India and Sri Lanka Begin Joint Naval Exercise SLINEX 2017

Indian Navy and Sri Lankan Navy has begun the 2017 Sri Lanka-India Exercise (SLINEX) at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.SLINEX 17 aims at reinforcing strong neighbourly bond between India and Sri Lanka underscored by extensive maritime interaction and improved understanding. The naval exercise will conclude on till 14 September, 2017.

Assam-Google deal to bring 26000 villages on Net grid

The Assam government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Google India to boost internet connectivity to 26,000 villages and 1500 tea garden areas across the state. The MoU is signed to strengthen women empowerment, skill development and universal education.
The secretary of information technology department, Nitin Khare, and the country head (Policy) of Google India, Chetan Krishnaswami, signed the MoU in the presence of chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

1993 Mumbai Blasts : Court Found All 5 Guilty

1993 Mumbai Blast on which 257 lost their life and 713 injured, gets its verdict on Thursday. A special judge pronounced death by hanging for Taher Merchant (55) and Feroz Khan (47).
Gangster Abu Salem (48) and Karimullah Khan (55) have sentenced for lifetime. And Riyaz Siddiqui (67) was handed a 10 year sentence.

The Judge said, “RDX cannot be used as a powder to kill mosquitoes and flies, and it cannot be assumed that AK-56 rifles were being distributed in schools in Bombay as toys. The accused had knowledge about the offence.”
